We recently took Mélange outside and participated in a local Vintage Flea Market. It was 100+ degrees! I worked the booth with 5 other amazing women who shared their secrets at the beginning of the day about staying cool, even if you are menopausal. Caution, some of these may make you blush J Here is how the day went…….
Pick the space with the most afternoon shade if you have a choice
Wear cool clothing that doesn’t show sweat or look wet
Bring Spare underwear
Use Antiperspirant even on the inside of your thighs, and under your breasts
Get the event host to power your space and use a fan, which you brought
Get a giant bucket of ice with waters. Hydrate people!
Pass out hand fans to all your lovely customers that came out in the heat to see you
Tell everyone you have a low tolerance for heat, apologize in advance
Stand with your legs spread apart in front of the fan
Wipe off all the make-up you wore with the sweat dripping off your face
Laugh about how hot it is
Put the ice from the bucket in a bag and put it on top of your pounding head
It is just mind over matter, tell yourself you are not as hot as you think you are
Put ice in your bra, who cares it is already soaked
Drink the water from said bucket because it still has SOME ice in it... and god knows what else
Go pee, and peel off the seat cover that is stuck to your sweaty bottom
Announce you are SO OVER THE HEAT, and it is Hotter than Hades
Drink more fluids, in spite of starting to feel bloated
OK, I am HOTTER THAN I THINK I AM!
Gather around the cold water in the bucket and all place your feet in it. No more drinking out of it!
Start packing up early because NO person in their RIGHT MIND is shopping in the heat
Literally have a meltdown when everything won’t fit back in your car
Find out the ladies you have been with all day, are not afraid of your heat induced rage, and will not leave a woman behind!
I would say, the title (which was suggested) says it all. But, the best part was working with good friends and seeing our customers despite the temperature!
